One of the greatest truths you must know as a christian is your identity in Christ. An aspect of that identity is your righteousness in Christ. Rom. 10:3 reveals:
“For they been ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God”
A lot of christians folks fit the verse above. They know nothing about the righteousness of God that we receive by faith alone so they are busy trying to offer a ‘filthy rag righteousness’(Isa. 64:6) that stinks and unacceptable before God. The righteousness we have is ‘the righteousness of God’(1Cor. 1:30;2Cor. 5:21). God’s very righteousness. You’re in Christ as righteous as God is.
Let’s see confirmations from the scriptures of your righteousness in Christ.
• The vine life (Jn. 15:5):
You are the branch Jesus is the vine. And since its not possible to have something in the vine that is not in the branch we can conclusively say that whatever Jesus the vine has is what I have. Jesus is righteous I’m also righteous. As righteous as he is. He is not more righteous than you are.
• The divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4):
If you are born again you partake of the divine nature, the nature of God. That nature you partake of is righteous so it means you are too. God does not have an unrighteous nature, so do you.
• The rebirth (1Jn. 5:4;Jn. 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17):
We are born of God. In Christ God gave birth to us and since God cannot give birth to something unrighteous we can boldly say that we are righteous by birth. We were born righteous. Our father is not more righteous than we are.
• The indwelling (1Cor. 3:16; 1 Jn.4:4):
God cannot dwell an unrighteous body. But since its clear from scriptures that he lives in me then it safe to say that I’m righteous or else he won’t be resident in me.
• The word (2Cor.5:21; Phil. 3:6-9; Rom.4:1-3; Gal. 3:6):
The scriptures is the next proof that we are righteous. The scriptures declare this over and over. You can confirm from all the references above.
• The finished works (2Cor. 5:21; Rom. 5:14-21):
Jesus came to make us just and acceptable to God and he really did it. By reason of what Christ did in his sufferings, death, burial and resurrection we have been made the very righteousness of God. My sins past, present and future were heaped on Jesus and his righteousness was inputed to me. Now I’m righteous not by my good-works but his good-work.
• The body of Christ (1Cor. 10:16; 1Cor. 12:27):
We are the body of Christ. If that is true then we are as righteous him since we are his body and he is righteous. Beloved, you’re righteous believe it and see yourself effortlessly live it.
• Our fellowship with (1Cor. 1:9; 1Jn.1:1-4):
Can God fellowship with the devil? What harmony is there between Christ and belial (2Cor.6:15)? If God fellowships with us it simply means we are righteous.
Notwithstanding your weaknesses, shortcomings and failures you are righteous. Right believing is what produces right living. As you believe this simple truth about what Christ has done to legally confirm you righteous you will see yourself effortlessly walk in righteousness.
