Every believer in Christ has a ministry. You do not have to wait to receive a special call into the five-fold ministry. The very first day you got born again you were enrolled into ministry and you are expected to fulfill the ministry 2Tim.4:5).
But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him]. It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). (2Cor. 5:18 [AMP])
Most believers think ministry is for the five-fold ministers only. A close look at Eph.4:11-12 will show otherwise.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: KJV
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. NLT
We can now see from the above scripture that the work of ministry is for the saints or believers. What the five-fold ministers do is to equip Christians to do the work of ministry. So the next time you hear the word ministry, don’t take yourself out of you.
If you are born again, you have been called into ministry and that ministry is called THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION. We are all called to reconcile men back to God. This is a special ministry, this is a great ministry. It’s one of the greater works Jesus spoke about.
We are not called to judge or condemn men but to reconcile them. We are not called to tell men how sinful they are, but to tell them what Christ has done for them on the cross of Calvary. We don’t preach the problem we preach the solution. We don’t go about telling them how deadly sin is, we simply tell them the cure, which is Jesus.
We are not called to preach sin; we are called to preach Jesus. Jesus only is our message. Telling a patient how deadly his sickness is without presenting the cure won’t help him, it will only kill him. Don’t go around killing people. Start saving them by presenting the cure.
To reconcile is to restore back to favour. We are restoring men back to their favoured place and position with God almighty. We are now in harmony with God. God is no more angry with us.
To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. Isa 54:9 NIV
God in Christ has reconciled us back to favour. We were not a part of it. We only came to enjoy what was done for us. You cannot break the New Covenant because you were not there when it was done. Only God or Christ can break it, and if none of them can then the New Covenant can never be broken. God is totally responsible for our redemption we shared no part in it. You’re just a beneficiary.
You have been reconciled to God already stop trying to reconcile yourself. Just receive what has been done for you and enjoy. You cannot merit what has been done neither can you do it yourself.
Go out now and fulfill ministry. Go and tell the world that Jesus Christ has paid for their sins and has provided a way to bring them back to God. That their good works or penance cannot reconcile them to God but Jesus only. God is no more counting their sins against them because Jesus has paid the high price but they will not enjoy this unconditional forgiveness until they believe in Jesus Christ.
